Many people think that Hispanics aren't educated and do not need a college education. Many Hispanics come to the United States looking for an opportunity to make a better life for themselves and their families. In doing so, Hispanics often accept lower labor jobs and work very hard to maintain a good quality of life. Unfortunately, these lower labor jobs have created a stigma that fits mostly to Hispanics.
' As the Hispanic community continues to grow and integrate into the America population, their professional roles are expanding. This is, in part, largely due to assimilation, determination and education. As Hispanics become more educated, their role in the workplace is growing. With only slightly more than 10% of Hispanics holding a bachelor's degree, the battle still remains to try and educate the Hispanics population. Many Hispanics speak English as a second language and do not understand the system in the United States. For this reason, many Hispanics do not wander outside of their comfort zone. They remain in comfortable jobs where they don't need to push their English. They avoid going to college because the process is challenging. Despite these factors, educating Hispanics matters. With over 80 million Hispanics in the United States, it is no longer a population that can be ignored. It is paramount that the Hispanic strive for an education. One of the benefits of going to school in the United States is the ability to receive financial aid. Personally, I am able to attend college because of financial aid. The problem for most Hispanics is that they don't understand the process for applying to college, receiving financial aid or seeking counseling for career goals and college placement. Outside of graduating college, I have experienced most of the processes surrounding college. I have made it my mission to help other Hispanics go to college. It is important to empower my people to be more than low labor workers. If Hispanics possess the courage to migrate to the United States, then they most certainly have what it takes to graduate college.
